CEO Magazine Awards Finalist

We’re so excited to announce that Arriba Group’s CEO, Marcella Romero, is a finalist in not one, but two CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards << https://www.theceomagazine.com/events/>> this year – Managing Director of the Year and Startup (Aimbig) of the Year!

With everything that is going on in the world right now, we believe it’s more important than ever to take a moment and recognise the value of good leadership. Australia’s business leaders deserve to be recognised as they navigate the extraordinary challenges to work and life brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly while there’s still so much uncertainty and the long-term impact on the corporate world remains largely unknown.

A previous finalist and judge for The CEO Magazine’s Executive of the Year Awards, Marcella says events like this are important for Australia’s business community because recognition is powerful.

“They remind people in business, and all leaders, that our common humanity is powerful when working for the success of a program, initiative or company,” she says. “By recognising what others do well, where leaders innovate or take risks, we all benefit from sharing the best, the challenges and the learnings along the way.”

Overcoming adversity has been a major theme of Marcella’s own life and career. “Since starting my career, my goal was to help people, especially after overcoming adversity, racism and hardship as a child migrant”, says Marcella.

At the age of nine, Marcella’s family fled Chile for Australia because of the political turmoil. At primary school, she needed special lessons to be able to learn in English and felt out of place. Kids were cruel and she felt humiliated, but it was through this experience she learnt to push through obstacles.

“This has guided me through all phases of expanding my business. I have always supported and embraced inclusion and want to make sure that people with physical and mental health injuries/disabilities have equal opportunities in workplaces and the community.”

With the motto, “Together we can,” Marcella firmly believes that collectively, a diverse array of people can enhance any organisation’s capability.

“Our vision is to be the number one, nationwide market leader and provider of choice to our customers and people. It is my responsibility to achieve that vision and live our values of People, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Agility through being an innovative, dynamic and passionate leader.”

Award winners will be announced during a virtual presentation ceremony on 12 November.
