International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations (UN) observed day recognised on 3 December each year. This important day aims to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of the 4.4 million people with disability in Australia.
At Arriba Group, we are proud of our businesses and their commitment to supporting people with disability. Having recently been recognised as an ‘Inclusive Employer’ by the Diversity Council of Australia, Arriba’s workforce employs over 10% of employees with a disability. The overall feedback from the Inclusion@Work survey was overwhelmingly positive.
- Inclusive Team: An outstanding 94.5% of employees agreed or strongly agreed that they are treated as valued and respected team members, a remarkable 24.2% higher response rate than the national index.
- Inclusive Leadership: An exceptional 93.4% of team members acknowledged that Arriba Group’s leadership treats everyone fairly, regardless of age, culture/ethnicity, disability/gender, indigenous background, or sexual orientation, surpassing the national index by 19.8%.
- Inclusive Organisation: A remarkable 91.8% of employees agreed or strongly agreed that Arriba Group fosters an inclusive culture where diversity is valued and respected, exceeding the national index by 20.8%.
Marcella Romero, Founder and CEO of Arriba Group, expressed her delight with the outstanding results, saying, “These statistics reflect Arriba Group’s unwavering commitment to creating a workplace where diversity is celebrated. Our culture of inclusion has yielded exceptional results, and I’m thrilled our employees endorse our efforts. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated team and thank the Diversity Council of Australia for their recognition.”
Across our businesses, we are driven by our purpose, “Empowering Lives Together” and reflect the United Nations theme for IDPwD of everyone working together to make the world better and fairer for people with disability. Arriba Group’s Sustainable Development Goals are aligned with this theme, with the United Nations asking countries to work together to make the world a better and fairer place by 2030. This includes:
- AimBig Employment, whose aim is to break down barriers to employment and foster a culture of inclusivity to ensure that people with disability have sustainable employment opportunities
- LiveBig, where the team promotes healthy lives and well-being for people with disability
- Rehab Management, where the team not only promotes healthy lives and well-being for people with disability, but also ensures that people with disability have sustainable employment opportunities.
On this International Day of People with Disability, let’s come together and promote healthy lives and wellbeing for people with disability and specifically ensure that people with disability have sustainable employment opportunities.
