Arriba Group Welcomes Dr. Dinesh Palipana OAM as Ambassador: Advocating for Equity and Inclusion in Meaningful Employment

Arriba Group proudly announces Dr. Dinesh Palipana OAM as our ambassador, dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion in meaningful employment. Dr. Palipana is renowned for groundbreaking achievements in medicine, law, and disability advocacy, being the first quadriplegic medical intern in Queensland and the second person with quadriplegia to graduate as a doctor in Australia, also marking the first with a spinal cord injury. Co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities Australia, his infectious advocacy work centres on inclusivity in education and employment, earning him numerous accolades, including the 2021 QLD Australian of the Year.

Dr. Palipana shares his thoughts on becoming Arriba Group’s Ambassador and his vision for laying the foundation for meaningful employment. He emphasises a focus on collaboration with AimBig Employment, a key company within the group that provides essential support to individuals confronting diverse barriers to employment.

I am delighted to accept the role of Ambassador for Arriba Group, as their mission perfectly aligns with my vision of creating workplaces that not only embrace diversity but celebrate it.

I firmly believe that meaningful employment begins with equitable access to education. Education is the key to empowering individuals with disabilities, a journey facilitated by breaking down physical and attitudinal barriers. This shift enables everyone to pursue knowledge, contribute unique perspectives, and break free from limiting stereotypes.

Often, parents of children with disabilities share the challenges they face from the outset of their educational journey, affecting future employment prospects. Breaking these barriers declares that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and fulfill their dreams, emphasising that education is a right, not a privilege. My dedication to inclusive education focuses on empowerment, creating an environment where individuals with disabilities are not only welcomed but equipped with the necessary tools and accommodations to thrive academically.

Extending advocacy into employment, it is crucial to challenge societal perceptions. Placing individuals with disabilities into confined roles reflects society’s limitations. It’s time to break free from these constraints, embracing the wealth of talent in every corner of the workforce. We need to support people with disabilities to thrive in all fields and at all levels, including corporate governance, politics, fashion, sport and media.

Recognising that good work equals good health, I emphasise that this is not just a personal endeavour but a societal strategy leading to reduced health costs, economic benefits, and heightened productivity for all.

Arriba Group’s commitment to innovation and technology aligns seamlessly with this vision, propelling us towards creative solutions for a healthier and more productive society. Technology plays a vital role in breaking down barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities, opening doors, creating opportunities, and showcasing that diverse abilities are valuable assets in the workforce. Collaborating with Arriba Group, with its innovation-driven approach, ensures that we stay at the forefront of these technological advancements, making a lasting impact on the employment landscape.

Inclusivity goes beyond being a buzzword; it signifies a commitment to acknowledging and celebrating the value in every member of the workforce. This dedication initiates a ripple effect that extends well beyond individuals, enriching us collectively and propelling us towards a more inclusive future. I look forward with enthusiasm to collaborating with Arriba Group in shaping workplaces where diversity is not merely embraced but genuinely celebrated, fostering a future that is truly inclusive, innovative, and compassionate.
